![]() The 708 and 716 make good end of line switches but I don't think they are great if you need a lot of managed features at the end (VLANs, trunking, redundancy, etc.) as the interface and user manuals aren't polished. Their unmanaged switches (508 series specifically) have a habit of spewing bad packets all over the network when they fail, we rip them out on site because of how many problems they've caused us. We stick to their fully managed switches - the 708 and 716 series typically. ![]() I've used and seen Red Lion N-Tron a lot as well. These are industrial rated, higher temperature and IP ratings than typical switches, passive cooling only. You can get the Cisco ones off CDW if you don't have a local Cisco VAR you prefer, AB has to come from the local Rockwell distributor. ![]() Cisco IE 1000 is the equivalent Cisco industrial switch without the Rockwell firmware. Most of their switches start at 8 ports, for a 5 port the lightly managed Stratix 2500 is I believe the only option. They were pretty simple to setup, just like any other switch with web based management.Īllen Bradley Stratix switches are Cisco industrial switches with extra firmware from Rockwell on top. Could you guys give some recommendations as to what brands are good? I have looked at STRIDE and Red Lion switches but want to make sure I'm picking the right product.Įdit: Thx for the suggestions, we decided to go with simple Phoenix Contact switches and we'll see how it goes. I am looking to purchase something that is going to be reliable as well as managed, but small (5 port). I have found several different options on the website, however because I am used to dealing with cisco/arista/etc, etc, switches, I don't know what quality to expect from these industrial switches since I don't even recognize the brands. They are asking for recommendations for a couple of small 5 port managed switches that need to have 24V posts for power. ![]() I am a network engineer that recently I moved jobs to a factory that uses CNC machines and DNC to network them. ![]()
